A record decrease in exports of vegetables and fruits from the country

ISLAMABAD: Exports of vegetables and fruits from the country have recorded a decrease on annual basis in the first quarter of the current financial year.


According to the data released by the State Bank and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in this regard, the volume of vegetable exports in the first quarter of the current financial year was recorded at 45.77 million dollars, which is 29% higher than the same period of the previous financial year.


In the same period of the last financial year, the country received 59.13 million dollars in foreign exchange from vegetable exports. In September, the volume of vegetable exports was recorded at 13.50 million dollars, which was 17.08 million dollars in August and 16.78 million dollars in September last year. 14 million dollars was received in exchange.


According to statistics, in the first quarter of the current financial year, the country received 75.56 million dollars in foreign exchange from the exports of fruits, which is 45% less than the same period of the previous financial year.


In September, the volume of fruit exports was recorded at 18.71 million dollars, which was 28.45 million dollars in August and 30.72 million dollars in September last year. In fiscal year 2022, the volume of fruit imports was recorded at 398.91 million dollars.
