WhatsApp services restored after being suspended for 2 hours.
WhatsApp services have been restored in many countries of the world, including Pakistan, after being suspended for about 2 hours.
According to a report by the Down Detector website, the services of the social networking website WhatsApp were suspended in the afternoon.
The issue of WhatsApp being down on Twitter was the most prominent in Pakistan today, with more than 97,000 users commenting on its shutdown. There were reports of WhatsApp services being suspended in neighboring India as well.
A spokesperson for Metta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, said on the issue that some people are experiencing problems sending messages, we are aware of the issue and are working to restore all services as soon as possible.
It is to be remembered that there was also a problem in October 2021 when several major social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp faced shutdown while millions of users were affected by the shutdown of these services. Internet outage reporting website Down Detector reported service outages in major cities such as Washington and Paris during service outages.
The hours-long outage sent Facebook's shares down 4.9%, the biggest one-day drop since last November 2020, but improved 0.5% after services were restored.
Mike Schroepfer, Facebook's chief technology officer, said in his tweet that "I apologize to the businesses, large and small, families and individuals who depend on us." He further said that '100% restoration of services may take some time'.
